WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

What difference does it make whether one believes the world was created or evolved? Can't one embrace Christianity and Evolution? An outspoken evolutionist answered this question in the American Atheist magazine with the following reply.

“Christianity is — must be! — totally committed to the special creation as described in Genesis, and Christianity must fight with its full might against the theory of evolution. And here is why.

In Romans we read that 'sin entered the world through one man, and through sin — death, and thus death has spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned' (5:12)

... the whole justification of Jesus' life and death is predicated on the existence of Adam and the forbidden fruit he and Eve ate. Without the original sin, who needs to be redeemed? Without Adam's fall into a life of constant sin terminated by death, what purpose is there to Christianity? None.

Even a high school student knows enough about evolution to know that nowhere in the evolutionary description of our origins does there appear an Adam or an Eve or an Eden or a forbidden fruit. Evolution means a development from one form to the next to meet the ever-changing challenges from an ever-changing nature. There is no fall from a previous state of sublime perfection.

Without Adam, without the original sin, Jesus Christ is reduced to a man with a mission on a wrong planet!”

Words aptly spoken! This opponent of Christianity clearly saw through to the real issues. How important it is that we as Christians be consistent in our thinking. We must accept all of the Bible as God's Word. In it He says what He means and He means what He says.

We are reminded of the words of the Apostle John who wrote, “The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (Jn. 1:14)

No, Christ was not merely a man with a mission on the wrong planet. He was truly God incarnate on a love mission to the right planet. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (Jn. 3:16)

ONLY TWO WORLD VIEWS

There are but two possible world views a person can hold: one founded on Theism where it is believed that Something besides Nature exists; the other founded on Atheism where it is believed that the natural world is all that exists. Theism entails Supranature; Atheism entails Naturalism. They are antithetical concepts. Since ideas lead to consequences, these two antagonistic world view perspectives “evolve” into two antagonistic Total Systems, two complete and separate entities.

In reference to the origin of Man, Theism-Supranature believes Man to be a product of a personal transcendent Creator who used “design and purposive intent” to accomplish His ends. Man is seen to have a free will, truth objectively known, and morality spelled out in the Bible. Man is accountable to his Creator, to transcendent authority. Atheism-Naturalism, in sharp and uncompromisable contrast, balloons like a canker into a grotesque Total System: Man has an ape-like ancestry, is the product of chance, has no free will. His existence is meaningless. Truth is relative; morality is subject to the whim of autonomous man; he is accountable to no one. It spawns hedonism, nihilism, determinism, materialism, existentialism, Marxism, Freudianism, fascism, pornography, abortion, drug culture, violence and licentiousness in films and on TV, crime, anarchy, and the list goes on. (Let it be recognized that the foundational premise of science is Naturalism. Thus science finds itself in league with the Atheism-Naturalism Total System.)

A vast uncrossable chasm (uncrossable except by conversion) separates these two unplacable enemies one from the other. One cannot hold to a “chance and meaningless concept of reality” and a “design and purposive intent concept of reality” at one and the same time. Furthermore, these two antithetical Total System world views with their several individual component parts are, like the individual parts of the human body, interrelated and interdependent. Thus, as a student is indoctrinated into a chance and meaningless concept of reality through the teaching of evolution in our schools, the student is seduced into the Atheism-Naturalism Total System world view with all of its attendant and integral parts: relativism, determinism, chance and meaninglessness concept of reality, self-autonomy, etc. The Psalmist asks: “How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?” (Psalm 4:2 NIV)

SCIENCE FALSELY SO-CALLED

Popular understanding to the contrary, science has a limited charter, bounded, as it were, by a circle. Inside the circle are phenomena and events that are observable, repeatable, testable. Or as Jaki puts it: “Legitimate science deals only with a rather narrow aspect of reality, the quantitative (measurable) features of things.” Another way of stating science's area of jurisdiction is “observation and experimentation”. Outside the circle lies everything else, which turns out to be the most of reality. For our purposes, we are only concerned with the fact that “singularities”, i.e. the origin of the universe, the origin of life, the origin of species, the origin of man, etc., are non-observable, non-repeatable, non-testable, non-quantitative, not subject to experimentation.

Remembering that the foundational premise of science is naturalism, it follows that when scientists step outside their legitimate domain and offer opinions relative to the origin of, say, man, they must do so in naturalistic, that is to say, atheistic terms. The theory of evolution students learn about in public schools is a product of illegitimate science; it is actually the foundational doctrinal tenet of the atheistic religion of Secular Humanism. The one thing evolution is not, is science. It is metaphysical speculation based upon an Atheistic-Naturalistic world view.

The U.S. Supreme Court recognized Secular Humanism as an atheistic religion in the 1961 TORCASO decision. The foundational doctrinal tenets of Secular Humanism read: “First: Religious humanists regard the universe or self-existing and not created [atheism]. Second: Humanism believes that man is part of nature and that he has emerged as the result of a continuous process [evolution as taught in public schools].” (Humanist Manifesto I) Eminent British scientist, Soren Lovtrup, a non-Christian, in his 1987 book Darwinism: The Refutation of a Myth concluded after 422 pages of analysis: “I believe that one day the Darwinism myth will be ranked the greatest deceit in the history of teaching science.” That science is in consort with the atheistic religion of Secular Humanism is documented in the Humanist Manifesto II: “...Science affirms that the human species is an emergence from natural evolutionary forces.” For those Christians who attempt to accommodate the naturalistic theory of evolution into their beliefs, the Bible has something important to say: “O Timothy keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.” (II Timothy 6:20-21 KJV) “And many shall follow their pemicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.” (II Peter 2:2 KJV)
